A limited run of 50 riso printed, hand folded and bound copies have been lovingly made by our friends at Sorriso. Building on School of Critical Design's philosophy of minimalism, meditation and thinking-through-working, the book leaves space to breathe and contemplate your own responses. We invite you to annotate and draw in the spaces in between - like an exercise book or journal. The publication is loop-stapled so that you may build a collection with future editions inside a binder.
We sent a simple prompt #REBELLION out to our community to see what written responses we could generate. A form of 'very-human-prompting' and collective reflecting.
We received a range of responses from the very intimate and everyday, to the more critical and analytical. There are short stories, essays, conversations, personal reflections and manifestos. Inside every prompted response we find new prompts, new questions to ask ourselves.
The collection has been lightly curated and framed with themes that emerged naturally across the responses. At the same time, there are gaps, key ideas around Rebellion that were left unexpressed, perhaps because they are un-expressable.
There may be small flaws or differences as a natural side effect of risograph printing and human fallibility.
Physical copies are bundled with access to School of Critical Design's courses and/ or Thinking Collection. This is a space to learn, connect, think deeply and perhaps participate in our next release!
Digital copies are scans of the physical copy.
School of Critical Design is a London and Amsterdam based design school born of an experimental studio model and dedicated to exploring practice, methods, and thinking around next design & business while looking into critical global issues affecting humanity today and for the next 1,000 years.
